This is a nice break from all that Death Row/No Limit rap that's infecting today's airwaves. No East Coast/West Coast provoking to be found on Classic Elements; instead, this compilation features nothing but underground hip-hop acts from the Northwest. K Records, more known for covering indie pop from the Northwest, uncovers a whole different scene and culture from that area. Hats off to this label for showing that they're not limited to just one genre of music by introducing rap acts who can make it on their own without the production help of Puff Daddy, and most importantly, not including the Seattle-based Sir-Mix-A-Lot on here. Standouts include Jaleel, Soulstice, Sinsemilla, Nobody and Black Anger.
