An amazing compilation put together by the likes of Talib Kweli, Prehistoric Sounds brings together some of the best artists in underground hip-hop circa 2001. Not surprisingly, the vet Talib Kweli provides the album's highlight with "Millionaires." Newcomers Mood and Elite Terrorist hold their own amid a stirring sound collage that melds elements of trip-hop and hip-hop in a way that is as entrancing as RZA's stellar work on the soundtrack for Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai. Forget about the title, Prehistoric Sounds represents the future of hip-hop.
