Goudie follows the neo-glam stylings of Nancy BoyPlacebo, and the Manic Street Preachers, complete with a sultry snarl. Signed to Metallica's Lars Ulrich's Music Company label, Goudie's debut Peep Show is a daring effort with hard rock layers written all over it. Elements of electronic synth beats also hint around, but it's the funkiness of it all that makes Peep Show a decent introduction to Goudie. Songs such as "Baby Hello" and "Sugar Daddy" blast with naughty guitar riffs, and frontman Johnny Goudie's lazy drawl is campy for a rollicking and adventurous rock & roll time. "Julia" is another stammering rock track, distorted riffs rising above the overall hushing tone of the song. However, Peep Show is too glossy for the TRL crowd, but not too abrasive for those third wave punk revivalists.
