After a decade-plus hiatus and the tragic loss of two founders, one of hip-hop's most powerful afrocentric groups returns with a new line-up on its 2006 comeback effort RETURN FROM MECCA. X-Clan's second incarnation includes original member Brother J as well as "Ultraman" Ra Hanna, ACL, Kumu, and Master China. With contributions from a slew of beatmakers (DJ Khalil, Bean One, Quazedelic, DJ Fat Jack, and J Thrill among others), guest spots from KRS-One, Chali 2na, and Abstract Rude; and Brother J's consistently pointed, socially conscious lyricism, RETURN FROM MECCA shows how badly X-Clan was needed during the group's 13 year absence, during which the genre was dominated by bling, booty-shakin, and gunfire.
