Released almost simultaneously with another D-Block effort (Prepare for Glory) and hyped as a primer for the highly anticipated third Lox album, No Security works like a compilation featuring a slew of collabo tracks that give much of the shine to lesser-known D-Block MCs like Bucky, Bully, Large Amount, and Tommy Star. Unfortunately, much of No Security feels like filler material, with grating sing-song hooks, amateurish beats, and recycled rhymes courtesy of D-Block's second-tier members whose best JadaStyles, and Sheek impersonations aren't even close to doing justice to the genuine articles. There are jumpy Dirty South outings ("Show 'Em," "Get Ya Bounce On"), R&B-tinged slow jams that recall the Lox's early Bad Boy efforts ("Get That Paper," "Brother's Keeper," "Hustler's Prayer"), and even an imitation-Nelly joint ("Thrilla"), but little of that quality We Are the Streets hardcore that resurrected the Lox brand. Verses from Sheek LouchStyles P, and Jadakiss (who rhymes on just three tracks) are just too few and far between to make this 15-deep (including three hidden tracks) track list worthwhile. The one cut that almost makes the rest of the B.S. worth bearing is the "Like That Y'all" Remix, which has producer Pete Rock bringing new life to Bob James' oft-flipped "Nautilus" and features all three core members between serviceable verses by AP, Straw, and Snyp Life.
