A resident of the Lefrak area of Queens, NY, Akinyele makes rhymes that always seem to revolve around women and sex, and it's been working for years now. Anakonda is more of the same, with some thugs and guns thrown in, but he generally sticks to the game plan and delivers a strong yet somewhat short album. Fans of this kind of stuff (2 Live Crew, Too $hort) will undoubtably appreciate Anakonda, but for the average rap fan there just isn't much new here. Adding to that, a might-be opera singer pops up on a few hooks throughout the album, making for some of the most annoying choruses yet to be heard. Fortunately, there are some catchy and creative beat productions to savor, but there just isn't a "Put It in Your Mouth" or "Take a Lick," like his last albums had, that would propel this album to purchase status.
