E.C Illa's second album, Power Moves, builds on the strength of his debut album, offering a similar set of spare, hard-hitting beats and smart, tough rhymes. There isn't anything revolutionary about Power Moves -- the music is straight-ahead New York hardcore and the lyrics deal in standard gangsta cliches -- but Illa is a resourceful, clever rapper who knows how to restate the cliches in an interesting way and that makes the record a success.
