Fibulator sounds far more like a band from New York than a band from California. Their appealingly campy indie rock begs references to Free Kitten or Cake Like, with impressively strong (and purposefully over the top) bass and vocal work taking precedence over guitars. Unhammerlike's campy quality could well seem slightly overblown, if not for the fact that there's a good deal of musical substance to back it up; more than most similar acts, the band has found an appealing form in which to present this sort of work, making Unhammerlike a surprisingly lovable release in a subgenre filled with irritating missteps.
