Eternal Affairs Review by Jason Birchmeier
Heather B. flows like a veteran on Eternal Affairs, never short on knowledge or stamina. Moreover, an impressive cast of New York's finest joins her for the album, in particular legendary producers DJ Premier and Pete Rock. B. opens the album with lyrical guns blazing on "Live MC," which then goes into "Steady Rockin'," Premier's contribution to the album. On most of Eternal Affairs' dozen songs, B. holds her own; on the few songs with guest MCs, however, she matches her guests rhyme for rhyme, the most noteworthy contributors being Queens MCs Nature and Horse, the latter a member of Nas' Bravehearts posse. Perhaps because she's a female competing in a man's world -- the rap world, that is -- she spits her rhymes with force and a bit of aggression. No matter the reason, her rhymes never go unheard, particularly with the excellent productions she has backing her.
