Rhode Island's finest Satanic brutal death metal (ok) band's latest, Dawn Of The Apocalypse, is surprisingly long, almost an hour, which is not exactly common for such brutal music.  I'm not complaining, at least I got my money's worth.  Recorded with their Xth line-up (which changed again not long after the album was released when they kicked the vocalist out of the band), this album is pretty much 100% brutal, heavy and fast music, with the Satanic lyrics one can expect from Vital Remains.  A few acoustic moments here and there let the listener catch his breath before the chaos starts again.  Very aptly named album, no doubt about that.  Too bad they had to part with the vocalist, as he does a very good job on this album, at least as far as guttural vocals go!  If you like the genre, get this album, you won't be disappointed.  I'm not much into that genre myself, but I've already gave this CD more than its share of spins!
