Beautiful Girls Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine

The Gen-X romantic comedy Beautiful Girls appropriately has a Gen-X soundtrack, featuring covers of '70s songs (the Afghan Whigs take on Barry White's "Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe") with new tracks from neo-slackers like Pete Droge, as well as '70s classics from the Spinners and Kiss. Lacking the overall consistency of the Reality Bites and Singles soundtracks, Beautiful Girls is still fairly strong, as the strong moments -- Spinners, Kiss, Roland Gift, Ween -- outweigh the lesser moments, which are simply mediocre, never embarrassing or bad.
