Booty Call may be a shamelessly vulgar sex comedy, but its soundtrack shows a surprising amount of restraint. Alternating between rap and hip-hop-influenced urban R&B, the soundtrack has a number of highlights, including cuts by A Tribe Called Quest, Silk, the Fugees, Me'Shell NdegéOcello, Gerald LeVert, and duets between Johnny Gill and Coko, E-40 and B-Legit, and Too $hort and Lil' Kim. The album is too long and there's a number of mediocre cuts on the record, but there's enough prime material -- particularly the singles "Don't Wanna Be a Playa" by Joe and D-Shot & E-40's "(I'll Be Yo') Huckleberry" -- to make it worthwhile.
