AllMusic Review by Steve Huey
The soundtrack to Dracula 2000 is yet another one of those new '90s-metal collections designed to increase awareness of the accompanying film among its young male target audience. The problem here isn't the blatant marketing-department calculation, though -- it's the unevenness of the material. Pantera, Slayer, and Monster Magnet are their usual selves, but the soundtrack is padded out with material from a lot of as-yet-unknown outfits, who don't necessarily separate themselves from the alt-metal pack. Some of the new recordings by bands fairly well-known in the alt-metal community -- Powerman 5000, Disturbed, System of a Down, Static-X, Linkin Park, (hed) P.E. -- are decent, but whether that's enough to carry an entire soundtrack album depends on just how rabid an alt-metal fan you are.
