The New York-based trio The King Of France's sophomore album is a blend of quirky pop arrangements, whip-smart lyrics, and tunes you could swear you've heard somewhere before but haven't. "The Beast" is a brooding slice of urban angst, while "White Confection," which features some fine incendiary playing from drummer and noted rock writer Michael Azerrad, recalls '90s Britpop at its finest.
