AllMusic Review by Gregory Heaney
Blending slick, dancefloor-ready production with melodic and heavy post-grunge, My Darkest Days return with their leaner and meaner sophomore album, Sick and Twisted Affair. While the Days haven't found much in the way of new subject matter since their last album, they've made leaps in their execution. With fewer detours into out and out ballads, the album is able to maintain a heavier vibe overall, which ends up being a nice balance to the more dance-oriented elements of the production. Add to that a running time of 30 minutes and what you're left with is an album that's tighter, more focused, and more consistent than their 2010 self-titled debut. Though anyone who appreciated the band's softer side might find this one a bit on the muscular end, fans of the band's wilder side will be treated to an album that actually feels like My Darkest Days are finally living up to their dark and sleazy image.
