Santa Barbara rockers Dishwalla return with their fourth studio release, the follow up to their critically acclaimed 2002 release ‘Opaline’. While it would seem a near impossible task to match the artistic genius that this band found on their previous release, Dishwalla comes pretty damn close, and manages to do it with a whole different style. While Opaline driven by heartfelt lyrics and string arrangements; their self-titled new release is fueled by layered guitars and strong hooks. Perhaps, what’s most impressive about this new record is the diversity the band displays, which is probably due in large part to the three different producers that Dishwalla brought in for this album. The album hooks the listener in right out of gate, with the unforgettable lyrics of ’40 Stories’. The next tack is the album version of the first single ‘Collide’. Lyrically, this may be one of Dishwalla’s best songs, with JR Richards pouring his heart out through the emotional lyrics of this poignant track. Perhaps most impressive on this record is the track ‘Coral Sky’, which is just simply a classic display of Dishwalla at their best. The layered guitars perfectly compliment the soaring chorus, mixed perfectly with an unforgettable drum loop that makes this a clear front runner as the next single off the album. While it may not be quite strong enough to measure up to ‘Opaline’, Dishwalla’s new release is clearly strong enough to stand on its own as another impressive release from this talented band.

  1. Hello, this is not the "Dishwalla" album, but the "Pet your friends" album. At least for the FLAC link.
