7 Mile doesn't really stand out from the urban loveman crowd on their eponymous debut album, but that doesn't mean the record is a waste. The band never breaks from the Boyz II Men blueprint, choosing to serve up a collection of smooth R&B and restrained swingbeat, but they are strong vocalists. They can turn weak material into something listenable, which is a blessing, since only a handful of cuts truly take hold on the record. Nevertheless, their talents are strong enough to make this a promising debut.
